A fun place with a great staff. Sit at the bar as the bartenders are a lot of fun. Great burgers and beer.

New Comment on Penn and Teller (Rio)

Not your typical Vegas magic show, but I love everything about it. From Penn's commentary to Teller's amazing tricks, it is one of the elite shows in Vegas.

New Comment on Dos Caminos (Palazzo)

One of the better Mexican restaurants I've been to and certainly the best in Vegas. However, it is still Mexican so I'd classify it as a little overpriced and the margaritas are a little on the small side, but if you are craving Mexican I don't think there is much better on the strip.

New Comment on Trader Vic's (Planet Hollywood)

The Patio is one of my favorite places to grab a lunch or after dinner drink. It has slightly above average food, but I wouldn't plan on being blown away by it. Come for the people watching, the view and the great drinks.

New Comment on TGI Fridays (Aliante Station)

The place is overly crowded with tables/chairs. Nice appearance, but then it's brand new. Service was pretty "average", with improvement needed.

Food selections were many, and portion sizes were adequate. Pricing was higher than expected for a coffee shop atmosphere by $2 to $4/meal.

If it was not in a casino, I probably would NOT return. I certainly would NOT make a special trip for this place.

New Comment on Original Pancake House (Aliante Station)

Nice setting, altho Denny's is also a nice setting. Food taste is pretty average. Portion size is small. Price is ridiculously high. $2.50 for a cup of coffee? This is NOT Starbucks! Service was slow.

I probably will NOT return.

New Comment on Mrkt Sea and Land (Aliante Station)

Nice appearance, but that's where it stops. Pricing is a la cart, and grossly expensive. Portions are huge, but who needs 1# of Ribeye, an 8" baked potato, or enough green beans for 4?

This is NOT the place to have a good meal at a reasonable price. Wine/Champagne prices are thru the roof expensive for what you get.

Service was good, friendly and knowledgeable, but "stodgy".

New Comment on Camacho's Cantina (Aliante Station)

Very nice looking restaurant. But, that's where it stops. Portion sizes are average or below. Food prices are excessive by 20% or more. Drink prices are grossly high ($4.25 for a domestic beer in a casino???). I won't be back.

New Comment on Orleans

My husband and I have been to Vegas 4 times over the past 3 years and since our first trip (which included 2 nights each @ the Mirage, the Fitz (downtown) & the Orleans) have chosen to stay at the Orleans for our vacations! We usually stay 3-4 nights and are very budget conscious. We love the Orleans b/c of the AWESOME deals they send in the mail (2 trips were booked from those offers - 1 was $29/night!!) and the standard rooms are bigger than other standard rooms on the strip! All 4 times our room has been clean, comfy bed, perfect tempurature and we got a 2-for-1 buffet last 2 times we stayed (which is already a great deal, like $8 each & the food is great for the price). Some people complain about kids, there are always a few, but have never been a problem, the hotel is huge and the kids usually stay in the kid-friendly designated areas. I have never swam in the pool - well, because I could swim @ home! I'm here to gamble & sightsee, etc. The only thing that has changed for the worse @ this hotel is the coupon book they used to give @ check in, we used it a lot - bunch of 2-for-1 deals & coupons for every restaurant ... but the room rates are so good, can't pass them up! However, the restaurants are usually a good deal anyway. Our favorite is Koji (Asian bistro) and the buffet is pretty good. We eat breakfast @ the Courtyard Cafe b/c it's cheap and a ton of options. When they had the coupon book we ate more meals @ the Orleans, Don Miguel's is very good too and on our last trip we were up quite late one night and saw that TGIFridays does 1/2 price apps & drinks after a certain hour - it was really good & cheap! I noticed some people complain about being off-strip, but we've never waited more than 10 mins for a shuttle to the strip & it drops you right in the middle @ Bill's gambling hall next to the Flamingo! We either hop on the bus (cheap cheap cheap) or get a monorail pass, we're in our early 30s, can't beat it! My husband also loves to play in the poker room, a lot of locals during the week, then friday night all the kids from Cali come in and give him their money :) (well he wins it of course), he's always done well there. I feel like they have a good assortment of slots as well & good priced table games. After 4 days, I do start to get a little bored here, which is why I gave 4 stars... but will always come here for a 3-4 nighter if they have the same deals!

New Comment on Gallagher's Steakhouse (New York New York)

Enormous steaks. I got a portershead (42 dollar). Tasted really good. Everything was big, even the fries. Not a hot place to see hot chicks. Service was ok, waiter wanted to sell everything, but hey whe're in Las Vegas.

New Comment on Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill (Harrah's)

Great music, fun atmosphere. During the day it's a great place to have lunch, try the whiskey girl wings, big & meaty with tasty barBque sauce. (you get a good portion for about $7.) At night they had a band & the place was jumping. (almost too packed, but I guess some folks like it that way) great Toby Keith Hats & tshirts in the gift shop.

New Comment on Olives (Bellagio)

Super service, good food but very expensive! An over all positive dining experience but perhaps not quite worth $400 for five of us. Now I would go again if I could sit outside overlooking the fountain show, that would be worth the money in my opinion.

New Comment on Palazzo

Great rooms, big & luxurious. Staff was helpul & friendly. The room rate was a bargain for what you get, 720 square feet, three flat panel tvs (1 in bathroom) sitting area with a wrap around couch & remote control blinds. $7 for a domestic beer in the casino isn't such a great deal. Check out the sports bar, it has a great outdoor seating area with couches & fountains.

Breakfast is not to be missed!!! Maybe the best breakast I have ever had!! The signature French toast is wonderful, the Croquet Madame is awsome. Go with someone you love & try them both. It was expensive, $100 for 4 of us, but so worth it. Great service, great atmosphere & fantastic food.

New Comment on Paradise Garden Buffet (Flamingo)

Although my ankle was hurt I was starving and I decided to visit Paradise Garden Buffet at Flamingo in my first visit to Las Vegas.
The hostess was very rude, she didn´t care about my situation and I left the place.
Next day in the morning I paid my buffet and with my receipt in my hand, the same lady, on December 24th 200, your hostess Rebecca, was very
rude again.
I ignored her because I wanted to enter and I didn´t want to permit that this person spoiled my visit to Las Vegas.

Thank you

RateVegas.com Reader Question - Ask the Experts

Question: Archon just filed documents detailing a new option agreement to sell the Wet N' Wild property to Chris Milam (yet again). Can you provide any insight on this new deal, and why Milam has entered into an agreement to pay more per acre than his original option to buy the land?

Cheers,
Paul

Answer: This is probably a discussion better suited for the blog:

http://www.ratevegas.com/blog/

We have regular 'Open Topic' type discussions there.

Anyway, my guess is that he simply had no choice - whatever project he has planned now must still pencil out at the higher cost and given that there aren't a lot of other options for Strip land, that's the ballgame.
